Liz Hurley is a news anchor with WAFF-TV in Huntsville, and long time advocate for women’s health. In 1998, Liz was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that had taken her mother when Liz was a child. She established the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund in 1999 to support programs that build awareness about breast cancer and to purchase cutting-edge diagnostic technology for the Breast Centers at Huntsville and Madison Hospitals. Thousands of residents from across north Alabama participate in the annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run, and in other community events to raise money for Liz’s fund. Together with Liz, they are providing a better chance of survival for women with breast cancer.
