Liz Hurley Ribbon Run

RR13 Facebook Cover

7,000 runners and walkers will participate in the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run this year.  The event, featuring a 5K run and Survivors’ Walk, was established in honor of local news anchor and breast cancer survivor, Liz Hurley.  The event has become a north Alabama tradition with more than 300 teams, and participants donning custom-made t-shirts and pink costumes to support the Breast Centers at Huntsville and Madison Hospitals.  Event proceeds will help bring digital tomosynthesis to Huntsville Hospital’s Breast Center. This technology creates a 3-dimensional picture of the breast using X-rays. Early results with digital tomosynthesis have proven this new breast imaging technique will make breast cancer easier to detect in dense breast tissue.
