Linda Brouwer

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Linda serves as the Foundation’s first Director of Strategic Initiatives, supporting the strategic planning process for the Foundation, evaluating tactical opportunities, and directing performance metrics and benchmarking processes.   

Throughout her career, Linda has enjoyed working in a variety of business industries and organizational structures, including healthcare, communications, non-profits and start-ups.  She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Calvin College.

Highlights of Linda’s prior experience include new business assessment for the National Office of the American Automobile Association (AAA), product development for Siemens Stromberg-Carlson, development director for Free-2-Teach, a Huntsville non-profit, and partner in Acair, LLC, a family contingency planning service. She has served extensively in community volunteer positions, from chairing school fundraisers to co-chairing her church’s building program. 

Born and raised in Holland, Michigan, Linda, her husband and two young sons moved to Huntsville in 2002 after over a decade in Orlando, Florida.

Donor and Physician Relations Manager

Ashley Freeman, Donor and Physician Relations Manager, manages all hospital physician giving programs and efforts, works with a portion of the Foundation’s major donors, and oversees Emerald Society, a women’s giving circle in support of Madison Hospital.

Before joining the Foundation team in February 2019, Ashley worked as the first community relations and events manager for Kendra Scott in Huntsville. She also previously worked as a sales professional for Tom James Company in Birmingham.

Born and raised in Jasper, Ala., Ashley graduated from The University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a specialization in Professional Sales. She is also a graduate of Leadership Huntsville Connect Class C-23.

In her free time, Ashley loves to spend time with her husband and dog, traveling, and exploring new local establishments in Huntsville.

Born in Nashville and raised in Dothan, Sarah currently serves one of the largest publicly-held hospital systems in the U.S.  An Auburn graduate, she worked for SouthTrust Bank in Birmingham and Huntsville, Crestwood Medical Center, and Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, serving as its president/CEO for 19 years. After retiring early from Leadership to care for her father with dementia, she co-founded Acair, LLC, a family contingency planning service.  She also manages her family’s small timber/hunting lease business in Dallas County.

Sarah has served on 21 boards and civic committees, including as board officer or chair for: Rotary Club of Huntsville, the national Association of Leadership Programs (ALP); the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville; and Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA).  Early in her career, she served on the Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform (ACCR) board, helping launch the Huntsville chapter. 

She is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County Class 11 and Leadership Alabama Class XXIV.

Her awards include: Momentum Woman of Impact Award Winner (2022); Patricia Haley Charity Humanitarian of the Year Award (2021); ALP Leadership Lifetime Legacy Award (2017); Rotary Club of Huntsville Vocational Excellence Award (2011); WEDC Foundation’s “Women Honoring Women” Award (2007); PRCA Practitioner of the Year (2000); and the AlB Instructor of the Year (1994/1995).

Director of Corporate Relations/Events

Cheryl Geiger serves as the Foundation’s Director of Corporate Relations. In this role, she oversees corporate relations, the State of the Hospital annual board meeting and the Foundation’s Corporate Wellness program.

Before coming to Huntsville Hospital Foundation in 2017, Cheryl worked for five years as a logistics and marketing manager at ITT labs. She attended the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama in Huntsville where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design with a minor in English.

As a Huntsville native, Cheryl has always enjoyed giving back to our community. She is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville Focus Class 41 and of Leadership Huntsville Flagship Class 36. Throughout the years she has volunteered her time as a member of the Junior League of Huntsville and of the Early Works Society. She has volunteered for many other non-profit groups such as, Grounds for Hope, Crush Wine Festival, NOMA and Manna House.

In her free time, Cheryl enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her husband and their three children.

Anna Smith serves as the Director of Donor Relations for Huntsville Hospital Foundation, leading a dynamic team executing major and annual giving fundraising efforts, meaningful donor stewardship, and appreciation opportunities.

Anna is a graduate of Auburn University with over 15 years of nonprofit and fundraising experience in higher education and health organizations. She is passionate about connecting people with meaningful ways to make a difference both in health care and the greater community.

Anna’s involvement in the Huntsville community includes Leadership Huntsville Connect Class 21, Management Academy Class 11, Rotaract Club of Huntsville, USTA and others. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, gardening and cooking.
